Exploring Fiji

Viti Levu and Vanua Levu are the two major islands in Fiji. While most of the population lives on these two islands, there are over 300 hundred islands in the archipelago for tourists to experience. We’ll list a few of the key tourist areas below.

Denarau Island

Denarau Island is just off the western shore of Viti Levu, around 5km away from Nadi. As a result, tourists are able to feel like they are living on a remote island, without any of the hassles. In addition, Denarau Island boasts all the biggest names in hotels, with Hilton, Sofitel and Sheraton all calling this island home.

Denarau is connected to the mainland by a small causeway. Holiday-goers can also catch a ferry to Yasawa or Mamanuca Islands. Therefore, Denarau could be a great location to set up your tropical base.

The Mamanucas Islands

The Mamanucas Islands are one of the most popular island chains for tourists, and it’s not hard to see why. After all, you’ve probably seen these islands featured in films like Cast Away or the series Survivor: Fiji.

A stay in the Mamanucas can be best described as a holiday in the purest form. In other words, if you like uninterrupted time to relax on perfect white beaches, you may want to check out The Mamanucas.

Coral Coast

The Coral Coast stretches along the southern shore of Viti Levu and provides a tropical escape for all budgets. The name is no coincidence either, with coral banks and fringing reef visible from the shore.

The Coral Coast is not just resorts and scuba diving. More specifically, tourists are able to travel inland a few kilometres to the surrounding local villages.

Suva is nestled on a hilly peninsula on Fiji’s south coast and is the largest metropolis in the South Pacific. Tourists are able to admire the colonial architecture or eat in one of the many authentic curry houses littered around the city.

For those tourists looking to unwind with a few evening drinks, Suva’s bustling nightlife provides everything you need and more.

Is Fiji good for families?

Are you wondering whether it is a good idea to book your family holidays to Fiji? Well, we think you should!

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Fiji is in the top ten most popular destinations for Australians!

In short, Fiji offers so much for both parents and kids. In particular, many hotels offer child minding facilities, so parents can relax as their children run free.

Which Fiji island is best for families?

While there are options for families all over Fiji, the Coral Coast area boasts a particularly wide range of options for Aussie families.

Being one of the first Fijian regions open to tourism, The Coral Coast is a well-established hub for holiday-goers. In addition, there are hotels ranging from 3 to 5 stars, catering to families of all budgets.

The Outrigger, as well as the Shangri-La Fijian Resort, are two large, impressive resorts that are not only incredibly family-friendly but affordable.

Much of The Coral Coast’s accommodation blends modern with traditional, offering luxurious rooms, great facilities and a variety of on-site dining and spa options.

Is Fiji a safe place to travel?

Yes! Overall, Fiji is a safe country that welcomes tourism.

The Australian Government’s Smartraveller website recommends travellers exercise the same level of safety precautions as they would in Australia.

While there is opportunistic crime in Fiji, it is mainly concentrated in urban areas at night. Therefore, if you are enjoying a night out in Suva, you may want to be a little bit more conscious of your surroundings.

Therefore, despite crimes against tourists being relatively rare, travellers can protect themselves through the following:

  • Being cautious when using ATMs.
  • Being aware of credit card fraud and card skimming devices.
  • Avoiding carrying excess cash.
  • Avoiding wearing expensive jewellery, expensive watches or cameras.
  • Keeping windows and doors locked at all times.
  • Avoiding leaving cash, bags or other valuables out in the open.

When is the cheapest time for Fiji family holidays?

In general, Aussie families fly to Fiji during their holidays. As a result, some of the busiest and most expensive times to fly to Fiji are around the Christmas and Easter Holidays. Therefore, the period between Christmas and Easter (February and March) can be the best time for cheap family holidays to Fiji.

If you are looking for Fiji holidays with flights, it may also be a good idea to keep an eye out for any promotions. Both airlines and travel agents may have periods where they can offer reduced flights to Fiji.

However, flight prices are always subject to change. Therefore, consumers should keep an eye out for deals for all-inclusive deals.

What can you do on Fiji family holidays?

There are so many experiences and activities on offer for families in Fiji. Regardless of whether you’re looking for relaxation, thrills, or both, Fiji has it in spades.

Wondering what can families do in Fiji? Read on.

Relax at a resort

Beautiful and affordable resorts are one of the main reasons why so many Aussies keep flocking back to Fiji with their families.

At your resort, you’ll be able to relax poolside in the sun, while your kids are able to bounce between the kid’s pools, waterslides, jungle gyms and rocky streams. In short, having a self-contained resort bursting with activities allows families to spend quality time together.

Kula Eco Park

As we’ve established, the Coral Coast is a popular choice for families of all sizes. However, this region boasts more than just large hotels and resorts.

Kula Eco Park is only a stone’s throw away from the Coral Coast’s main drag of hotels and offers an easy outing that caters to every member of the family. Families can meander through the wooden walkways through the park, and experience Fiji’s indigenous flora and fauna.

Oh, and for those looking for a little extra thrill, there are adventure rides available in the park.

Island day trip

It’s easy to experience other parts of the archipelago with a day cruise. Ask at your hotel reception what local trips are available. In short, these day cruises are the perfect way to see the Fijian islands.

Looking for the full Cast Away experience? Families can take a day cruise to one of the country’s many deserted islands. However, unlike Cast Away, your stay on the island will be fully equipped.

While you’re on the island, you and your family can take glass-bottom boat rides, enjoy snorkelling, or explore the interior of the island.

Visit a local village

Very often, there is a special relationship between a resort and the local village where the employees live. As a result, there are often tours running from the resorts to a local village.

As cliche as it sounds, it is here you can experience the real Fiji. Not only will you and your family be able to experience another culture, but you can also support the local villagers by purchasing from their stalls.

Luxury spa day

Okay, admittedly, this one is more geared towards the adults and big kids of the family. Therefore, it may be a good idea to drop the little ones off at a childminding service before you go.

While the price for a luxury spa treatment is likely comparable to those in Australia, there’s no better time for a spa than while on holiday. After all, is there anything better than leaving a spa and being on holiday on a tropical island?

Kids’ clubs

The free kids’ clubs offered by many of the resorts are a key reason why Fiji maintains its popularity amongst Aussie families.

The kids’ club staff are incredible at keeping your children entertained and engaged. Additionally, your kids are guaranteed to enjoy themselves and interact with other children on their holidays.

Having a kids’ club that your children actually want to attend is a great boon for parents. Therefore, while your kids are kept well-entertained, you can catch up on that book you’ve been reading, enjoy the bar or adult’s only pool or even spend your day in the spa. In short, it’s up to you.

Garden of the Sleeping Giant

Originally the private collection of the late American actor Raymond Burr, the garden is now open to the public.

With over 2,000 varieties of Asian orchids, the Garden of the Sleeping Giant is a great way to relax in a sun-drenched hammock while the kids are free to run through the wide spaces.

What is the best time of year for Fiji family holidays?

Due to Fiji’s tropical location, the weather stays consistently warm and pleasant all year round. However, visitors may notice a difference during the wet and dry seasons.

The wet season occurs during summer, where increased temperatures and humidity lead to higher rainfall. On the other hand, Fiji’s dry season occurs during the winter months, from May to September.

Best Fiji Family Holidays

If you’re looking to plan great family holidays in Fiji, it is important to weigh up what you are looking for in a holiday. So, before booking, we recommend thinking about the following.

When?Consider what time of year you wish to go. If you are only able to take time off during peak season, expect to pay a little more for your holiday.

Easily apply for loans for Fiji family holidays

Ready to swap the familiar sights of the Australian suburbs to palm trees and white beaches? We don’t think that’s such a bad idea either.

The good news is Monzi’s lender-finder service is simple and straightforward to use. Here’s how:

Apply while daydreaming

Monzi’s lender-finder service is 100% online. As a result, you can apply to match with a lender from your car, the bus, or while you’re daydreaming at work (just don’t tell the boss).

Consumers can get started by scrolling up to the loan slider. Next, select how much you’re thinking of borrowing as well as your ideal repayment terms. Finally, once you are happy with everything, click apply now.

The nuts and bolts

Now for the second step of the process. Consumers will be required to fill out our online submission form. In short, Monzi only asks for the essentials, so this could only take a few minutes to complete.

Once you have completed the submission, our automated system gets to work doing what it does best. In essence, Monzi aims to pair your application with one of a multitude of available credit providers.

Island time

We’ll try to give you an outcome as quick as possible. In short, if we successfully pair you with a potential lender, they’ll get in contact with you directly.

Next, lenders will conduct some sort of assessment of your application. Finally, if you’re approved, the lender will send through a digital loan contract. Read over your contract carefully, and only approve it if you are happy with everything. From there, you might receive a same day loan in your account.

Next stop? You, deckchair, cocktail and white sand. Not bad, right?

Holiday loans

Monzi is incredibly proud of the fact we’ve already helped thousands of Aussies match with a quality credit provider. In other words, we’ve already helped a lot of dreams come true.

Can I apply for Fiji family holidays loans even if I have poor credit?

Yes! After all, having a poor credit record does not make you immune to the need for a holiday.

While traditional lenders like banks and credit unions may march you and your credit record straight out of the branch, Monzi works a little different.

In short, we work with a trusted network of lenders who understand borrowers are more than their credit score. In other words, a few financial blemishes on your credit report aren’t the be-all and end-all.

Need a bad credit short term loan for your next holiday? Monzi might know a lender or two.

But I receive Centrelink as well!

Yes! We work with lenders who may be able to offer personal loans for people on Centrelink.

This is because some lenders may be able to regard regular Centrelink payments as a form of income. Therefore, if your regular Centrelink income is able to comfortably cover your normal expenses, as well as your repayments, you may be considered for approval.

Keep in mind, however, that lenders will have their own guidelines around personal loans for Centrelink. For example, some lenders may be unable to accept certain types of Centrelink benefits. Others still may be unable to accept borrowers whose Centrelink benefits makeup over a certain percentage of their total income.

All of this, however, is at the discretion of the lenders themselves. As a result, Monzi is unable to speak to the policies of individual lenders.

Why am I being asked for my banking details?

When you apply for online loans, you may be asked to supply your online banking credentials. In short, we understand some consumers may find this a little odd. Well, let us resolve any concerns you may have.

Lenders are able to use the latest in banking-technology to access a read-only copy of the last 90 days of your bank statements. As a result, lenders are able to quickly get an idea of your overall relationship with money. In particular, lenders are able to see your income, regular expenses as well as how you’ve been handling any other repayments you have.

Therefore, if lenders can see you’ve been earning a sufficient regular income, you may be considered for approval.

In addition, borrowers do not have to upload any documents themselves or fill out any paperwork. Therefore, the loans process is both convenient and 100% paperwork free.

When will I have access to my loan?

While some lenders may advertise instant cash loans or instant approval loans, nothing really happens instantly. After all, lenders need to perform an assessment of your application. Plus, there are the transfer times you need to consider.

This being said, Monzi’s network of lenders have convenience at the forefront of their minds. In other words, these lenders aim to get your funds to you as quickly as possible.

After you approve your digital loan contract, your lender will transfer your funds. There are, however, variables at play which may affect your access to funds.

  • If you approve your contract outside of normal business hours, your loan may not be transferred until the next business day.
  • If you approve your contract after your lender’s final round of banking, your loan may not be transferred until the next business day.
  • No rounds of banking occur over the weekend. Therefore, if you approve your loan contract over the weekend, your funds may not be transferred until the following business day.

Looking for instant loans? Monzi might be able to pair you with a lender that works so quickly, it may feel almost instant.

Forget being scared of credit checks

Monzi, as the lender-finder, will not conduct a credit check of your application. Instead, we aim to pass your application on to a lender that fits your criteria – however, the lender may perform a credit check.

If you’re paired with a lender, it is up to them how to handle your application. As a result, Monzi cannot guarantee whether or not your lender will conduct a credit check. However, we can guarantee lenders are able to focus on more than just your credit.

In other words, your application will always be given the fair assessment it deserves.

Will Monzi match me with a payday lender?

No, Monzi does not work with lenders offering payday loans no credit check Centrelink. Instead, we’ll aim to match you with a lender offering personal loans.

The difference between payday loans instant approval and personal loans may seem pretty nominal. However, there are a few key points of difference between these two forms of credit.

Payday lenders:

  • Usually, $2,000 and less.
  • Quick transfers.
  • Bad credit considered.
  • Centrelink considered.
  • Repayment terms as short as four weeks.

Personal loans:

  • Up to $10,000.
  • Quick transfers.
  • Bad credit considered.
  • Centrelink considered.
  • Repayment terms from several months to years.

What can I use my Fiji family holidays loan for?

The great thing about your personal loan is it can be spent essentially like cash. In other words, you can use it to cover almost any personal expense. Therefore, you can use your funds to pay for your flights, a snack in the departures lounge, souvenirs in Fiji or even to pay for your cab back home from the airport.
